Inference for mixed models of ANOVA type with high-dimensional data

چکیده
Inference for variance components in linear mixed models of ANOVA type, including estimation and testing, has been investigated when the number of fixed effects is fixed. However, for high-dimensional data, this number is large and would be regarded as a divergent value as the sample size goes to infinity. In this paper, existing tests are extended to handle this problem with a sparse model structure. To avoid the impact from insignificant fixed effects, the proposed tests are post-selection-based with an orthogonality-based selection of SCAD type applied to selecting significant fixed effects into working model. The selection and estimation of fixed effects are under the assumption on the existence of second order moments for errors. Two types of tests for random effects are considered and some new insights are obtained. The proposed tests are distribution-free, though they request the existence of the fourth moments of random effects and errors. The proposed methods are illustrated by simulation studies and a real data analysis. © 2014 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Bayesian Inference for Spatial Beta Generalized Linear Mixed Models
In some applications, the response variable assumes values in the unit interval. The standard linear regression model is not appropriate for modelling this type of data because the normality assumption is not met. Alternatively, the beta regression model has been introduced to analyze such observations. A beta distribution represents a flexible density family on (0, 1) interval that covers symm...
متن کاملPrediction of Thermal performance nanofluid Al2O3 by Artificial Neural Network and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference Systemt
In recent years, the use of modeling methods that directly utilize empirical data is increasing due to the high accuracy in predicting the results of the process, rather than statistical methods. In this paper, the ability of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Adaptive Fuzzy-Neural Inference System (ANFIS) models in the prediction of the thermal performance of Al2O3 nanofluid that is measured ...
متن کاملApplication of an Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Inference System and Mathematical Rate of Penetration Models to Predicting Drilling Rate
The rate of penetration (ROP) is one of the vital parameters which directly affects the drilling time and costs. There are various parameters that influence the drilling rate; they include weight on bit, rotational speed, mud weight, bit type, formation type, and bit hydraulic. Several approaches, including mathematical models and artificial intelligence have been proposed to predict the rate o...
متن کاملDynamic Frailty and Change Point Models for Recurrent Events Data
Abstract. We present a Bayesian analysis for recurrent events data using a nonhomogeneous mixed Poisson point process with a dynamic subject-specific frailty function and a dynamic baseline intensity func- tion. The dynamic subject-specific frailty employs a dynamic piecewise constant function with a known pre-specified grid and the baseline in- tensity uses an unknown grid for the piecewise ...
متن کاملNumerical and Experimental Investigations for Design of a High Performance Micro-hydro-kinetic Turbine
Design and manufacturing of a high performance micro-hydro-kinetic turbine is discussed in the present paper. The main goal is manufacturing an equipped experimental model of hydro-kinetic turbine with highest energy absorption from water current. A multi-shape ducted turbine comprised of a multi-part diffuser was manufactured that can be converted to many experimental models for studying vario...
